Tegan: So we went into Junior High, and the first day of grade seven - Sara and I had spent the summer with my family who lived in Atlanta, and we went to Disney World. And Sara and I feverishly collected as many stuffed animals and Mickey Mouse items of clothing that we possibly could. Because, at that age it was still cool. But then we went to the first day of grade seven in our Mickey Mouse sweaters. We got hassled, and ostracized, and all the friends we had no longer talked to us because they were into - somehow they had gotten the memo while we were at Disney World that they needed to come to school the first day in like.. hooker garb. After a very painful day, my mom took us out for Slurpees and to go bike riding and then we got home and Sara’s boyfriend, Mitch, and my boyfriend, Wade, both called – they were best friends and they both called from one house and they took turns breaking up with us. So the next day when we were in school - well my mom had spent the week before we went to school telling us we needed to get our noses pierced and wear Doc Martens, but we INSISTED on wearing Mickey Mouse. And so the second day of grade seven, Sara wore my mom’s Doc Martens, and I wore a rayon blouse with red jeans. Anyway, it was pretty terrible and the point of this was..
