Notes

Some albums are objectively better than others on this list but their ranking is lower because I didn’t actually listen to it that much *looks guiltily at PJ Harvey*. My pop sensibilities are easily seduced.

I dearly wish Karin Dreijer Andersson had released something this year, if she had it’d no doubt be at the very top of this, like; past the roof, ‘top’ topness. I miss her, dudes.

I just started listening to The Black Keys and I am absolutely sickened with my serial abuse of the repeat button on this album. SICKENED, I TELL YOU. I’m so mad at how poppy and addictive it is I wanted to take it off the list.

I know its an entire cheat to put two parenthetical girls ep’s in one thing but the pornographer is too good to omit so i just threw both of them in, I do prefer PT IV. Don’t question my authority.

I love Kate Bush for writing epic songs. By epic I mean over 5 minute long, properly fleshed out songs. I usually look to Opeth to fill that void *looks at Heritage [2011]* but I don’t know, I didn’t like that album too much. 50 Words for Snow did this in a wonderful way and I’m a TOTAL sucker for concept albums.

The Vaccines is way higher because of longevity; like it leaked way back in December 2010 I think and I listened to it all this time and have not tired of it yet. so. that.

Feist’s return to the ~scene was incredible; I thought she’d come back poppier and with a song that will make us all want to shoot our heads in (1234 just got unbearable lbr) again but NO! SO ORGANIC and wonderful. I loved it. I don’t even know if organic is the word since she said “metals” described it but it has that natural feel and I love cover too. Leslie Feist just remains in my heart till the end of time.

The Strokes’ Angles isn’t on here because I only truly love Taken For a Fool and Life is Simple. okay I like Macchu Piccu too and I /might/ still be mad about them not touring properly. Okay Under Cover of Darkness was good too. *grumble grumble*. It just WASNT ENOUGH after that long ass hiatus.
